The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now inviting applications for three new Grand Challenges:

  •                 Putting Women and Girls at the Center of Development
  •                Creating and Measuring Integrated Solutions for Healthy Birth, Growth, and Development (part of the All Children Thriving platform)
  •                New Interventions for Global Health

Applications for these new challenges will be accepted beginning on November 4, 2014. Please also note that we are still accepting applications for six Grand Challenges Explorations topics.

      I am Tanzania male aged40, married with 2Kids.I’ve completed my Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education in 1996 with good performance.
      Briefly am among 10 children of my parents and 4th born of them. Am also among 7 sons of them to whom they have succeed to educate him up to that level. My condition economically is poor to afford higher education costs payments due to reason that I, my parents and relatives, we are depending on low earnings from local unreliable resources.
      My wish up to the moment am texting to you is to get further education. I venture to write to you to ask whether it would be possible for you to give me financial assistance.     Our Organisation has twenty eight groups of people living with HIV.
    We carry out the following activities:
    Holding monthly meetings of people living with HIV
    Undertaking Home Based care visits to bedridden clients of our members
    Carrying out stigma and HIV reduction activities in the communities
    Organizing HIV testing and counselling in the communities
    Making referrals to health facilities and make referrals to them
    we make follow ups to defaulters on ART and collaborating with traditional healers to test HIV related cases and make referrals
    We organise monthly meetings for HIV orphans and solicit support to pay their school fees
    Our activities were sponsored by catholic Relief Services (CRS)America and USAID and Family Health International(FHI)
    It was a partnership with the Catholic Bishop of Navrongo Bolgatanga Ghana one of the poverty stricken regions in Ghana.
    unfortunately the sponsorship ended.we would appreciate it very much if you could support us.

    We are pleased to introduce Somali Women Vision (SWV) an NGO run by Somali women intellectuals which was founded to respond to the needs of women/children in particular and the community in general in the areas of Women and Youth Empowerment, education, media trainings, Environment protection, rights, Health, Agriculture, awareness raising of violence programs. This NGO is presently headed by Mrs Jamad Isse Momahamoud. and is backed by board of directors working in promoting women’s right and gender balance. Our objective in forming SWV was to promote women status through women empowerment programs such as provision of education, information, and income generation. to raise women awareness of their rights in order to promote equality and justice for women. Helping women stand on their legs is the main objective of our NGO. SWV headquarters in Garowe Puntland.

    1.INTRODUCTION
    Rukoma Youh for Environmental Conservation organization (RYECO) is a non-governmental organization that was established in 2011 and formerly registered in 2012. The organization was established in response to the environmental conservation in Tanzania. The RYECO started as a small initiative with thirteen (13) volunteers using our home as the space of organization of our activities and programs. Currently the organization has more than fifteen (15) men and women who are working as volunteers providing education on environment conservation, HIV/AIDS, community capacity building, protection of natural forests, wildlife management and protection as well as mountains, river sources.
    ACHIEVEMENTS
    RYECO has successfully achieved to:
    • Officially register our organization under Tanzania policy of non-governmental standards.
    • Securing of a large forest reserve approximately to 10,000 hectors with wild animal species of all kinds at Rukoma village that is currently under management and protection of RYECO.
    • Establish a good relationship with local community around that has easerned the process of forest conservation and management.
    • Providing education on environmental conservation, HIV/AIDS, community capacity building, protection of natural forests, wildlife management and protection as well as mountains, river sources.
    CHALLENGES
    • Inadequate of skilled personnel to various position in its structure and daily programs.
    • Shortage of resources to implement various organizational projects and programs.
    • Low volunteer’s motivation in running the projects plans as some are targeting to make profits than serving.
    • Inadequate research and advocacy strategies to ensure achievements in the ability to communicate with national and international partners.
    • Unfavorable donors, partners and collaborators within and outside the country in funding initiatives for the organization objectives.
    PROJECTIONS
    In ensuring the achievement of the targeted organizational goals and objectives RYECO is targeting at:
    • Acting as a center for environmental protection and conservation training and learning.
    • Establishing the domestic tourism center at the forest under management (i.e Rukoma forest reserve)
    • Sustainable Production of natural forest products for the sustainable community.
    • Creating the harmony environment for the wildlife and man for the proper ecosystem development.
    • Conducting various researches for improving the management of the forest, wildlife and ensuring sustainable ecosystem.
    2 CONSERVING AND PROTECTING RUKOMA FOREST TO ENSURE WILDLIFE SURVIVAL AND SAFETY.

    This is a natural conserved forest that is located at the shores of Lake Tanganyika (the African and second world deepest lake) at a small village called Rukoma, situated in the southern part of Kigoma Region in the Western part of Tanzania, East Africa.
    The forest is the large with more than 10,000 Hectors (25,000 acres), with animals of all kinds especially wild animals like Gorillas, Apes, Buffalo, Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Pigs e.t.c
    RELATED PROJECTS TO BE CARRIED
    • Acting as a center for environmental protection and conservation training and learning.
    • Establishing the tourism center at the forest under management (i.e Rukoma forest reserve)
    • Sustainable Production of natural forest products for the sustainable community.
    • Creating the harmony environment for the wildlife and man for the proper ecosystem development.
    • Conducting various researches for improving the management of the forest, wildlife and ensuring sustainable ecosystem.
    3.VOLUNTEERS.
    The organization (RYECO) is calling upon the volunteers from all corners of the world to work with us in the field of environmental and wildlife management and protection under the Rukoma natural forest reserve. The volunteers may be with any of the following careers/skills or else
